Well, it’s almost here – the holiday shopping season is poised to begin literally before the Thanksgiving pumpkin pie is sliced.  While there are still many who enjoy the thrill of finding a good deal in the middle of the night on Black Friday (I’ll admit to participating in a 4 a.m. shopping excursion once many years ago. For most of us, it’s not hard to recall one or two memorable Halloweens. When I was a little girl, probably five or six, my mom made me a Raggedy Ann costume – complete with handcrafted wig (this from a mom who wasn’t super crafty) and pinafore dress.  Big night arrived, face painted, cute (but kind of scratchy) wig ready to go, candy bag opened – and so did the skies. It POURED. Not just a light rain, but the dismal cold, hard-driving variety. Within minutes, the wig (and everything else) was soaking wet, but we persevered as long as we could stand it.

If you are anything like me, you tend to want to spend summer days outside enjoying the beautiful Minnesota weather and not indoors cleaning out closets and cupboards. However, fall is upon us and it’s a perfect time to go through those drawers and closets, storage areas and even the garage to pare down and pass along (or get rid of) items that are no longer of use to you.

Senior year is the pinnacle for high school students—they become school leaders in many ways, at a time when they are also thinking about what their own future holds. If  the five students featured in the inaugural Prep Elite feature in St. Louis Park Magazine are any indication, the members of the class of 2013 are filled with outstanding potential and poised to make a difference in their community and perhaps even in the world.
