With gourmet appetizers, handcrafted cocktails and a wide array of games, Punch Bowl Social has gained a name for itself across the country as an “eatertainment” hub. Now that its newest location is up and running in the West End Shopping Center, the fun, food and titular punches have arrived in the Twin Cities.
Punch Bowl Social has restaurants in seven other major U.S. cities, but founder and CEO Robert Thompson says the new St. Louis Park location is “kind of our favorite right now,” and it’s not hard to see why. The 24,000-square-foot space is home to a 360-degree bar, eight bowling lanes, three private karaoke rooms—all made from shipping containers—and plenty of room for fun and games of all kinds, from billiards to bocce ball.
Drinks include local spirits and craft beers. If you’re looking for a beverage that’s a bit out of the ordinary, don’t pass up the joint’s namesake. Its fruity liquor punches are perfectly portioned at either four or eight servings.
On the menu are upscale twists on regular bar fare, such as chicken wings with a sweet cilantro sauce and house-made kettle chips with a charred onion crème fraîche. If you’re coming with a big appetite, opt for the meatloaf; it’s grass-fed, hormone-free and served with crispy mashed potatoes. Thompson says it’s his personal favorite.
